Wild Wood Retreat

Intent Design was able to do a significant interior gut of this existing residence. A significant portion of this residence was preserved such as exterior walls and roofing. But much of the interior was completely redesigned and renovated. The client was looking for some contemporary elements on this 1940’s conventional two story residence. Since this residence was built in the 1940’s we struggled with outdated eight foot ceilings. To remedy this we designed full height windows in almost all of the spaces to give a taller feel from the interior and exterior. The front was extremely flat with no depth or focal point. We were able to change that by adding a front porch entry which anchored the residence giving it much needed symmetry. The interior spaces were opened up in the living and dining rooms creating much needed connectivity and simpler circulation.
